Kingborough is not the Huon Valley, and the plumbing shows it
Two things are genuinely different up here, and they change what goes wrong.
Most of Kingston is on TasWater mains. Water and sewer both, through Kingston, Blackmans Bay, Kingston Beach and Huntingfield. That means mains pressure, which is a blessing until a fitting fails and you find out how much water comes through a 20mm line in ten minutes. It also means blockages are TasWater’s problem past the boundary and yours before it — a distinction that matters when you get the bill.
Get out along the Channel and it changes. Those are Huon Valley problems on a Kingborough address, and they are what we are set up for.
The other difference is the housing. Kingston has grown fast, so there is a lot of newer stock where the plumbing is fine and the problems are fittings and appliances — and then there is Kingston Beach, where some of the housing is old enough to have the same corroded galvanised supply pipe we pull out of Franklin cottages.
Kingborough Council, not Huon Valley Council
Worth knowing before you start anything that needs approval: Kingston sits in Kingborough Council, not Huon Valley Council. Different forms, different fees, different processing times, and a different onsite wastewater team for the unsewered properties.
